Peachtree City, GA—
In a surprising development, our house in Peachtree City sold before we even posted it for sale.  Knowing that we were about to put our house on the market, our real estate agent neighbor called us one day as we were eating lunch, asking if her clients from Minnesota could view the house.  Our habit of keeping the house neat paid off.  The clients liked it, and a few weeks later, we signed closing documents.  As of December 29, the house was theirs, and we were free of the responsibilities of home ownership.

This acceleration in the time schedule left us without any real plans of what we'd do after the house was sold.  We didn't really want to buy another house right away because we wanted the freedom to walk away and travel for weeks at a time without having to worry about things that needed to be done at home.  We considered putting all our belongings in storage and traveling full time, but we were uncertain about such a massive commitment with virtually no advance planning.  Moreover, we found no storage facilities nearby with genuine climate control.

In the end, we rented a two-bedroom apartment and jammed in the residue of our belongings that didn't go to Goodwill in the process of moving.  Then we went to the beach for a month.

With no home repairs or yard chores tethering us, we felt free to travel whenever and wherever we wanted this year.  Still adjusting to this idea, the only major trip we took was a 60-day road trip up and down the East Coast.  But we also made lots of family trips and enjoyed the freedom afforded by apartment living.
