Rainy with a Chance of Rain

EAST COAST ROAD TRIP, Chapter 19:
IN WHICH OUR PLANS ARE ALL WET

Day 19:  Durham, NH to Wells, ME.  Today's weather was rainy with a 90 per cent chance of rain. And did we mention that it rained? Not only does the rain help the little plants grow (and the big ones too), it slows down the sight seeing and letterboxing merry-go-round.

We enjoyed a slow paced day taking our sweet time to do not too much. Of course, we had to find one letterbox—ran out in the rain and grabbed it, bringing it back to the car to stamp in.

Stamping in high and dry
We made it to Maine today, settling in Wells for the night before heading up the coast toward Acadia National Park tomorrow. If we're lucky, a clearer sky tomorrow will enable sighting of some of Maine's 60+ lighthouses. Today they were all shrouded in fog.

Confusing Maine Town Names:
  • Berwick, North Berwick, & South Berwick
  • York, York Beach, & York Harbor (all in York County)
  • Kennebunk, West Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, & Kennebunk Beach
Say what?
Seems you haven't really arrived as a town until you have a namesake. How about York Junior? Or maybe these are formed when there's a big disagreement and the town splits...

DAILY STATS
  • Miles Driven: 65
  • Letterboxes: 1
  • Draw Footbridges: 1
  • High Temp: 56°F
  • Maine Rain: steady
