GRANDMA'S BIG BIRTHDAY, 
Charlotte, NC 

A very special occasion brought all of Ken's family to Charlotte as we celebrated Erika's 90th birthday.  At her insistence, we kept the celebration simple and small.  Though she tried to minimize this incredible milestone, all those who know her marvel that this vital and vibrant lady has really seen ninety years.
  
No matter her age, chocolate is always her favorite, so there was no question about the cake.  It had to be chocolate on chocolate!  Her collection of birthday cards was growing as we celebrated a couple of days early, and she was looking forward to a brisk game of bridge on her birthday.

With everyone present, a group shot was a must before we all went our separate ways again.

Now we all look forward to the day when we celebrate Erika's 100th!  Emma reported that she will be 17 when Grandma turns 100.  As Mark Twain stated so aptly, "Age is an issue of mind over matter.  If you don't mind, it doesn't matter."  We all hope that we can age as zestfully as Erika continues to do.
